Pump Technology – New technology, new codes, and how it can all bite you in a retrofit
Discussion on the changes in technology, efficiency, maintenance requirements and mechanical VFD considerations
The Truth Behind High Efficiency Boilers – What you Don’t know can hurt you! Discussion points were on combustion efficiency, efficient piping strategies, venting requirements, boiler control technology & integration into BMS systems, maintenance vs efficiency and retrofit considerations.
My history includes 11 years in the Navy as an Electrician, I have an Engineering degree specializing in HVAC design & control engineering, and 24 years experience in the Hydronic industry working with steam & water based heating systems. I enjoy trouble shooting wet side systems, and find the challenge of doing so, to be “something new” each day. “Old boiler rooms are like a time machine, looking into the past and trying to decide what the installers of that era had in mind when the system was built, and what has come along since to make changes to those system for better or worse can be like a good who done it novel.” I have worked for three different Manufacturers Representative Companies, a Wholesale House, a Parts Supply House, a Ship Yard, and as a Chief Building Operations Engineer in down town Seattle. I now enjoy working for one of the largest Manufactures Rep firm in the US, CHC – Columbia Hydronics Company.
With a degree in mechanical engineering from Portland State Univ. (PSU), I’ve been involved with many aspects of Plumbing and HVAC systems over the last 20 years from design, troubleshooting, to technical training. I am currently Business Development Manager for Columbia Hydronics Co. (CHC) a manufacturer’s representative with (10) offices in (7) Western states and over 130+ employees. CHC is a leading Manufacturer’s Representative and Package Systems Manufacturer of Plumbing, HVAC Hydronics, Steam, and Heat Transfer Products. We emphasize service that treats customers with respect while providing superior product and system knowledge.
